Shreveport, LA - Just before 5:00pm Shreveport Fire Department crews responded to the 5400 block of Financial Plaza for reports of smoke coming from an apartment unit. Upon arrive engine 13 found no smoke or flames visible from the outside of the structure. Once engine 13 firefighters investigated further they found some smoke in the attic part of a 2-story apartment building. Truck 16 firefighters helped setup ventilation fans to clear the smoke from the apartments. Initial firefighters were able to extinguish the small fire. Command then started releasing other responding companies that were enroute and on scene. Power and gas utility companies were called to shutoff those services to the unit/building. Fire investigators were also called to the scene including one from the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms). The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported. Signal 51 units responded and served about half a bag of rehab supplies.
